Claude Davies a £3m failure with the Rams
Despite a near club record signing of £3m from Sheffield United, Derby County are set to release Claude Davis from his contract.

The giant Jamaican centre back will start talks with Derby County to come to an arrangement to terminate his contract.

Claude, now 30 years of age has found it hard to fit into the Rams side after being brought by Billy Davies on the 11th August 2007. Injury has also hampered his quest for regular first team football. He was loaned out to Crystal Palace last season and made 7 appearances for the Eagles.

Davis played 29 times in all for Derby County and made two sustitute appearances. He was bought at a time when the Rams were in the Premiership and was thought to be a good buy for Derby. His subsiquent loss of form and injury problems limited his appearances and it is thought the Rams now need to remove his substantial wages from the club and a negotiated settlement would be best for both parties.
