Mike Horton leaves the post of MD for Derby County FC
Mike Horton has resigned from his job as managing Director of Derby County Football Club. The position was taken on by Mr Horton primarily on a 6 month basis but it turned out to be a full season and 12 month term.

Horton is also Vice Chairman at Derby County but he will retain this role for the foreseeable future. Mr Horton has said that he now intends to concentrate more on his own business and will have more time for his family.

There has been rumours of a season long row between Horton and manger Billy Davies, this has fuelled rumours of Davies leaving the club after the season ended. It now seems that the situation may have been calmed by Horton leaving his post as MD. The row was over the appointment of an assistant for Davies and that may now be resolved to everyone's satisfaction.

Director Jill Marples also to leave the Rams board

Mr Horton took his place as Managing Director when the consortium took over the Rams in April 2006 and leaves with Derby County proudly in the Premiership once again.

The club has also released the news that director and club secretary Jill Marples is also to leave the club board, along with her husband Peter Marples, who is an associate member of the Rams board.
