Davies had commented on the David Kelly affair, that has dragged on for a year, with Kelly still on "Gardening Leave". Davies is alledged to have made comments on certain clubs and individuals. The Rams boss in his defence has issued a ststement on the Official Derby County website that states, "At no stage was I critical about any club or individual when commemnting on David Kelly". He went on to say "I actually described the situation as being pathetic and I'm dissapointed that this has been mis-reported in some elements of the National media".
There has been no secret that Billy wanted Kelly as his right hand man since his departure and arrival at Pride Park but a situation has arose where Preston are not prepared to let Mr Kelly go, prefering to place him on "Gardening Leave" for what seems an indefinate period, or until his contract runs out.
