Davies Jailed after Rams match

Ross Davies has been jailed following an assault on two Derby Policemen. The Cardiff City supporter was part of a 70 strong set of Bluebird fans being escorted to Derby Railway station following the game with the Rams on the 17th March 2007, which Derby County won 3-1.

Davies of Brithweunydd Road, Tonypandy has a history of violence toward police and on the day of the attack had been drinking since 7.00am.

At Derby Crown Court it was revealed that he had run at one officer, punching him in the face and then tried to bite him before attacking the second officer.

PC Richard Ilett, who was one of the officers involved in the attack said the actions of Davies caused "great distress" to people waiting on the station platform.

South Wales police have been fighting anti social behaviour in the last 12 months at football matches welcomed the sentence but have stressed that through this and their own forces actions violence at football matches has been reduced....
