Burley wanted to speak on local Radio Derby after the game but was stopped by club officials. Rumours that 31 year-old Burley could follow teammates Malcolm Christie and Chris Riggott to Middlesbrough were rife for most of last week.
It is now emerging that Craig may have rejected a loan move to the Riverside Stadium, preferring to stay at Pride Park. John Gregory is said to not have been too happy with Burley over the issue and this is why Burley was relegated to the subs bench.
There have been suggestions that Derby County could have been in a position to take on loan players themselves if the restructuring of the club went as planned. This current Craig Burley saga could well have been a key in unlocking funds for any loan signing. We wait to see if this is the case.
