Derby County have announced that they have submitted an outline planning application to Derby City Council. If approved it will mean the demolition of the Baseball Ground to make way for around 220 homes.
The lowcost homes to be built on the site would be a mixture of flats and houses. The value of the proposed new homes would be around £8 million but demolishion and admin costs would have to be taken out of the final amount.
Rams Vice Chairman Peter Gadsby said,"The sale and redevelopment of the Baseball Ground was always a major element in the move to Pride Park and part of the funding for the new stadium was linked to the proposals for the old ground".
Mr Gadsby also wants the help of DERBY COUNTY MAD readers saying, "The club hopes to work with the council and developers to try and incorporate the memory of the old stadium in the development. This could be in the form of a street name, statue or bust, mural or commenorative stone."
"WE HOPE TO HEAR SUPPORTERS VIEWS ON THIS". So lets have some ideas and thoughts on the message board we will put a special section there and if we have enough constructive thoughts we will forward them to Mr Gadsby at Pride Park.
