The season has only finished 48 hours ago but the rumours are starting

The season has only just finished a little over 48 hours ago but the rumour mill is going full pelt with who the Rams are going to buy.

Chris Riggott
Chris Riggott, Derby Born and Rams supporter. Could he return from Boro?
A favoured position is defence with two players mentioned in, one being former Rams Chris Riggott. Riggott is Derby born and a Rams fan but finds himself battling for first team football at Middlesbrough when everyone is fit. There is no doubt he could do a very good job for the Rams but the 27 year old will be staying at Boro for the first few months of the season due to injuries to other players at the club. The Rams made a tidy profit on Riggott four seasons ago when he moved along with striker Malcolm Christie to Boro for £2m.

Christie is another player rumoured to be on the short list of the Rams. The former shelf stacker has had a terrible time with injury since join Boro and has had to compete with some very talented strikers for a place in any of Boro's starting line-ups.

Claude Davis
Claude Davis is another possible transfer target, or at least so the rumour merchants have it
Getting back to defenders Claude Davis of Sheffield United is another name in the frame. The Jamaican International, with 47 International caps, has associations with Rams boss Billy Davies from his time at Preston. The 28 year old defender moved to the blades for £2.5 million last summer and may jump at a chance to regain his Premiership status and re-new his association with Billy Davies.

A strong rumour in the last few hours has been Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendry. The 30 year old is a free agent ad wants to stay in the Premiership. He is also settled and wants to stay in the Midlands, so a free transfer could be on the cards in the next few weeks.

Hendry has played over 300 games for Villa and his huge experience of the Premiership may be an asset for the club.

I dare say a striker may be on the horizon in the near future but as yet we haven't heard any rumours. If you have and want to share them with us mail in to Derby-county-mad@fsmail.net
