West Hams' Tyrone Mears a possible target, seen here during his time under Bily Davies at Preston North End
Yes the window is nearly open, and I don't mean to let out the smell of Turkey.
January 1st is the time for Billy Davies to get his belated Christmas presents and recent rumours have West Ham's Tyrone Mears as a possible target.

The 23 year-old defender moved to the Boulin ground on the 5th July 2006 for £1m but has found it hard work getting into the West Ham first team. He has played just 3 games for the Hammers, his last being a defeat by Newcastle United on the 17th July 2006.

Billy Davies is also no stranger to Mears as he was in the Preston squad during his time as manager and he will certainly know if Mears is up to the job here at Pride Park. Mears left Preston to Join West Ham.

Billy Davies
Billy Davies, is he in with a shout for Mears?
Mears Joined Preston for around £200,000 from Manchester City, were he started his career as a trainee. The Preston move was Mears most successful transfer so far and he went on to play 50 times for the club and although a defender, managed to score four goals.

Well we will have to wait another 10 days before the cut and thrust of the transfer talks start but it will be a hectic time for Billy Davies and the directors of Derby County football club right up until the 31st January.
