Super Barnes scores a hatrick to sink the Brewers

Giles Barnes was the very impressive hero for Derby County this afternoon, scoring his first senior hatrick. The 17 year old had been asked to do a strikers role and was an instant success, scoring after just 3 minutes of the opening half.

The Rams and Giles continued to dominate the first half but the score as the half time whistle blew was just 0-1 in favour of the Rams.

The Rams continued to dominate in the second period and it was Giles again who scored on the hour to put the Rams two goal ahead. A minute later and Barnes completed his hatrick and a wonderful day for the youngster.

This must surely give Rams boss Billy Davies a nice headache, although Giles is thought of as a midfielder, could his position be slightly higher up the field? With new Million Pound striker Steve Howard newly arrived at Pride Park, it will be interesting to see where Giles Barnes plays his football this season.
