Tyrone Mears at Wembley play-off final

Rams boss Billy Davies has said he is close to signing his first Premiership player. It is thought Tyrone Mears will join the Rams on a permanent basis before the weekend.

Mears has of course been with the Rams since January on loan from West Ham United. He was instrumental in getting the Rams into the Premiership, with vital tackles during the Championship play-off final at Wembley, as well as his performances during his loan spell.

Davies has praised Mears saying "Tyrone is a young player with plenty of potential". The Rams manager is no stranger to signing Mears, as he had him on loan when manager of Preston.
