Pearson and Jewell
Adam Pearson, Chairman of football welcomes Paul Jewell 13 months ago. Now after 31 defeats Jewell resigns for the good of the club.
Derby County have issued the following statement "
Derby County can confirm that the club has parted company with manager Paul Jewell with immediate effect.

'Paul has taken the decision to leave his role as he believes it is in the best interests of the club, and feels his is no longer in a position to take the club forward.".

Jewell failed to attend a post match press conference and it was widely suspected that he would leave after failing to produce a competitive side in the Championship after last seasons nightmare showing in the Premiership.

The long suffering Rams supporters were making their feelings known yesterday during yet another home defeat with Booing at half time and at the end of the game and Jewell did the honourable thing and resigned. The Derby County Directors have said how they appreciate all that Jewell did during his 13 month reign at Pride Park but the sad facts are that after 58 matches in charge of the club his team has managed only 12 wins, 15 draws and had 31 defeats.
