Eddie Lewis shock signing for Rams
Derby County have surprised Stoke City and its fans by beating the Potters to the signature of American International midfielder Eddie Lewis.

Lewis signed for an undisclosed fee and may feature in the Rams side to play Tottenham tomorrow.

Rams fans have been debating the shock signing all day and at 33 Lewis will be one of the oldest players on the Rams books. He has good ties with Manager Billy Davies after he played some of his best football in the UK whilst at Preston from 2002-2005, were Davies was assistant and manager. Lewis played 109 times for Preston scoring 16 goals.

The time he spent at Leeds United 2005-2007 were also reasonably successful in a poor Leeds side. He played 93 times for United and scored on 9 occasions, he was also voted Leeds Player of the year last season.

Rams fans are hoping that the age of Lewis will not be a problem in the highly competitive Premiership, although he has plenty of International experience having played 72 times for the USA and again coming up with a reasonable tally of 8 goals.

Fans have faith in Billy Davies's ability and eye for a good player but only time will tell if buying a player who will see his 34th birthday before the end of the season was a good move.
