Ex Rams centre half Norman Nielson dies at the weekend

Norman Fred Nielson died at the weekend at the age of 73.
Nielson arrived at the Baseball Ground on 1st September 1951 after a £6,000 transfer from Charlton Athletic.

Originaly from Johannesburg, South Africa, Nielson was born on 6th December 1928.
At 6ft 3 inches tall he was a commanding figure in the Rams defence for which he made 57 appearances and scored 8 goals.
Nielson remained in football until 1967 when he finished his career with Ripley Miner Welfare.
