Davies under pressure as signings fail to impress

Billy Davies under pressure after failed signings
Billy Davies is yet another manager under pressure this week and it looks as though that pressure may be getting to the Premier League manager.

Two of Davies's signings have moved out on loan during the week and another £1m signing, Benny Feilhaber has spoken of his unreadyness for the Premiership rigours.

Feilhaber was brought to Derby County as a seasoned International who had plied his trade in the German Bundersleague . Many, and I suspect Davies to be one, thought the American was going to be a wonder buy at just £1m but both men now admit that he needs time to adjust to the rigours of the Premiership.

Add this to the reluctance of Davies to play £3.5m striker Rob Earnshaw and you may bring into question Davies's ability to spot and bring Premiership quality to the club.

His signing of David Jones was hailed as a snip by Alex Ferguson but little has been seen of the promising midfielder since promotion to the big stage.

In short, these three players alone have cost Derby County £5.5m for very little return and could well end up yet again warming the bench this Saturday against Chelsea.

Yes, Billy Davies did a good job in turning around a poor Championship side into a promoted side inside 12 months but is he or his signings up to the rigours of a Premiership season or should the directors be looking toward a seasoned Premiership manager to take the Rams forward?

The hunt goes on for Investment but if any money is found will it be wisely spent or will we have a few more million pounds worth of talent wasting away on the bench. The next few weeks should be very interesting, if not somewhat nervous for Billy Davies...
