Giles Barnes scored his first Premiership goal today and striker Kenny Miller scored the second to give the Rams a well deserved draw at St James's Park, Newcastle. (2-2)

Barnes ,scored his first Premiership goal with a well hit and placed strike from just outside the area after just six minutes of the game had passed. Shay Given in the Newcastle goal was left grasping thin air as Barnes shot nestled in the left hand side of his net

The Rams looked far from a team at the foot of the Premiership table and now seem to have some belief in their talents. Derby County were twice in the lead during the match with Miller celebrating his 28th Birthday in style running the ball into the area, beating his opponent before placing the ball past Shay Given in the Newcastle goal with a shot that swerved around the keeper and into the net.

The Rams were unlucky not to take all three points but one of the much talked about mistakes from the Rams defence saw Darren Moore misplace a headed clearance whilst under sever pressure and Mark Vaduka slam home the Newcastle equaliser. Vaduka also scored the Newcastles first equalising goal, which saw the teams go in at half time all square.

Derby have now taken four points off of Newcastle, who were expected to beat the Rams comfortably today. No wonder the few thousand Rams fans at the game could be heard to sing "can we play you every week".

The game showed how much improved the side has become with different approaches by Paul Jewell and some much needed self belief.

We now await to see if the same Rams side can put up a display as good as this one against Liverpool on Wednesday...
