It's safe to say Brummies don't like the Villa but yesterday it was the Rams Emanuel (Tito) Villa who denied them victory over an improving Rams side.

Unbeaten for two games, a new board, more finance, two new players, two old players leave. What a difference a week makes in football. Just seven days ago Derby County slumped to what many long time Derby County supporters called their worst ever game, losing to Preston by four goals to one.

The week started well with the club getting new owners in the shape of 45 year-old American, Andrew Appleby. Mr Appleby and family were over for the big unveiling of the new directorship. New titles for Chairman Adam Pearson and everyone else on the new board and former NBA Marketing officer, Tom Glick installed as the new CEO charged

with making Derby County a world brand name.

Wednesday saw the Rams revival in an entertaining midweek game against Sven Goran Erikson and his Manchester City team. The joy of the crowd when the Rams went 1-0 up was akin to winning the Cup Final. The game should have been the Rams second win in a Premiership season that has seen little joy for Rams fans. The fates however conspired against Derby County yet again and a goal that was scored by Daniel Sturridge, nephew of former Rams striker Dean, was clearly offside, yet stood.

The good news however continues as the Rams earn yet another point in their struggle to avoid the title of worst ever Premiership team.

With the transfer window closing at midnight on Thursday the struggle to land Rangers goalkeeper, Roy Carroll was finally won as the 30 year-old finally put pen to paper . Even later was the surprise capture of Everton veteran defender Alan Stubbs and although now 36 he will add some much needed experience to the Derby defence. Alan joins on an 18 month contract.

Friday, we all had a day off and more good news as the threatened heavy snow fall fails to arrive during the day.

Saturday arrives and Derby play the Brummies, promotion rivals last season and look as though they could well be joining the Rams back in the Championship next season. The good news didn't look like happening when Birmingham took the lead in the 68th minute but you can always trust the Villa to score against Birmingham, this Villa being the Rams new striker Emanuel (Tito) Villa. The goal coming in the last minute of the game and ending what must be one of the Rams best weeks in the Premiership this season...

What a difference a week makes!
