£6million Nugent bid by the Rams fact or newspaper fiction?

David Nugent heading for the Premiership but will it be with the Rams?
The Rumour merchants are at it again, as they claim should the Rams be promoted this season they will be putting a £6m bid in for David Nugent, rising Preston star and recently called up to the England set up to aide the lack of fire power in front of goal.

Is this just another rumour that is designed to de-stabilise the Derby County push for promotion?

With the obvious Preston North End connection between the player and the Rams manager, there may well be some substance to the claims.

However Preston are looking for promotion to the Premiership themselves and Nugent could be one of the players to make their dream come true.

Undoubtedly Nugent is a potential star for whichever club he signs but will the Rams be willing ,or able, to splash out the multi million pound cost? at a time when they have just recovered from a rumoured £50m debt following the last two regimes in charge at the club before rescue by Peter Gadsby and his fellow directors.

The lull in league football has certainly given the newspapers time to think and invent stories to keep their readers interested but is it truth? I doubt it, but one thing is certain David Nugent will be a Premiership player next season………..but will he be a Ram?
