Derby boss Nigel Pearson waits on duo
Derby boss Nigel Pearson is checking on the fitness of two players for the Sky Bet Championship opener against Brighton.
Defender Marcus Olsson and midfielder Jacob Butterfield missed last weekend's pre-season friendly against Karlsruhe with niggles.
Midfielder George Thorne has undergone a minor surgical procedure and is unavailable.
"There will be some disappointments in selection, but it's a long season and the important thing is we go into the game with a positive mentality," Pearson said.
Glenn Murray is set to make his second Brighton debut, after re-signing on loan from Bournemouth, and could be joined in the squad by fellow summer arrival Oliver Norwood.
Dale Stephens is still suspended for his red card against Middlesbrough at the end of last season but fellow midfielder Steve Sidwell should overcome a knee problem.
Defender Connor Goldson is a major doubt with a knee injury and midfielder Richie Towell also has a knee problem which will rule him out.
Uwe Huenemeier (groin) and Solly March (knee) remain sidelined by long-term injuries sustained last season, although both are closing in on returns to action.
